Neighborhood Watch Alert

February 5 Neighborhood Watch Update

Current NWP Incidents – February 5, 2013

For the last few months, we have been basking in the sense of “all is calm” regarding criminal activity in Hidden Valley. We have seen MANY reports of incidents down along McCarran Blvd and around the apartment complexes on Mira Loma but we have heard of minimal incidents in our own area. However, we can not afford to lose our focus on AWARENESS and ALERTNESS to suspicious activity.

In the last two weeks, we have received the following 5 AlertID bulletins right here in our own backyard:

  • 01-23-13 11:00 PM Vehicle Burglary 2600 Block of Parkway Dr
  • 01-24-13 6:00 AM Vehicle Burglary 2200 Block of Parkway Dr
  • 02-02-13 12:02 PM Assault & Battery 4700 Block of Parkway Dr
  • 02-03-13 12:11 AM Shots 5500 Block of St Andrews Dr
  • 02-04-13 2:33 PM Residential Burglary 6000 Block of Mia Vista Dr

As frustrating as it may be, we do NOT have any details about these cases. It would be helpful to know if these vehicles and the home were locked or unlocked. Then, we would know if it is a matter of a simple reminder to “LOCK UP” or, if there were forced entries, we need to be on the lookout for suspicious characters. But, let us use this basic information as a reminder to do all that we can to PREVENT additional incidents and to REPORT all suspicious activities to our Washoe County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) at the non-emergency dispatch number 832-4110.

Unfortunately, “they” are still out there. Let us all work together, raise our level of alertness, REPORT all the strange incidents and work with our trusted neighbors to watch over each other’s homes while we are gone.
