We had a wonderful picnic!
On Saturday, July 30 the Hidden Valley Homeowners Association held the annual picnic in our beautiful Hidden Valley Regional Park. We had a smaller turnout this year, but it was also a very hot day and could have kept some at home. For those who braved the almost 100 degrees had a great time with many familiar faces and also several attending for the first time.
It was nice to see a few young families with small children. We need them in order to continue this tradition! Again this year, we had the pleasure of enjoying the music from Maytan Music Band. The “Oomph” band started playing around noon and we all enjoyed some lovely music including some patriotic pieces.
For lunch we had wonderful hamburgers and hotdogs cooked to perfection by our master chefs, Allan Nelson and John Malone. We are so thankful for their assistance for this unforgiving job in such hot weather. All in attendance helped by bringing side dishes of salads, casseroles or desserts and there was plenty of food for everyone.
Thank you to the South East Coalition group for bringing pictures of the wetlands and animals from the area. You could purchase the pictures for a discounted price.
As the picnic came to a close, we ended it with our tradition -the drawing of raffle prizes. Many walked away with one of the great prizes donated by our local vendors. Thank you to Pat Kechak for walking door to door asking for prizes. To Annie Grogan and Laura Brandenburg – a huge thank you for taking care of the prizes, setting them up and selling tickets for the prizes.
